Bendgate 2.0?: Apple's latest iPad Pro 'folds like a piece of paper'

he Apple iPad Pro is apparently not a very durable tablet as demonstrated by Zack Nelson of the popular YouTube channel, JerryRigEverything. Zack was easily able to bend the iPad Pro with very minimal effort, which raises concerns about Apple putting build quality at stake in the quest for slimness.
Apple's new iPad Pro is probably the best tablet in the market right now but it seems like Apple has sacrificed construction quality in the pursuit of thinness. Earlier, Filip Koroy of popular YouTube channel EverythingApplePro showed how fragile the new iPad Pros are when dropped from waist height. Now, Zack Nelson of the channel JerryRigEverything demonstrated how easy it is to bend and crack open the tablet without much exertion.
The video starts off with Zack demonstrating how its easy to snap the Apple Pencil into two like a KitKat wafer by bending it at its dead center point. He then goes on to scratch the iPad's screen to see how the glass holds up and it seems that the screen does offer a fair level of scratch resistance. After scratching the metal sides, Zack finds that the area where the Apple Pencil latches on to the tablet is made of plastic to allow wireless charging for the Pencil.
When Zack tried to bend the 11-inch iPad Pro, it folded like 'a piece of paper' proving that its structural integrity can be easily compromised. A tablet this size will be placed often in backpacks, bags, or even on a couch cushion. Any force on the tablet will be able to easily bend it especially, if pressure is applied around the microphone or the small plastic area for wireless charging.
Internally, the iPad Pro does not seem to have any reinforcements for ensuring proper structural integrity. Of course, all tablets can be bent to a certain degree but the ease with which Zack could bend the iPad Pro's body should raise genuine concerns about Apple sacrificing build quality to shave off a few millimeters.
In our own reviews of both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, we could easily twist the casing without much effort. With new repair prices of for the new iPad Pros touching sky high, it goes without saying that slapping on a quality case is imperative if you'd like the tablet to last for a while.
